I don’t know about you, but once we have a couple of warm days in MarchΒ I get so excited to plant again! Β I like to switch my plantersΒ out seasonally throughout the year. Β I repurpose a lot of the decor inside the plantersΒ for other seasons, too (I used the same white birch branches in my winter plantersΒ this past winter). Β These Easter and spring plantersΒ are really easy to make. Β I took this picture when I first planted these and by theΒ end of spring the pansies will be spilling over.Β If you haven’t used pansies before, inΒ NebraskaΒ theyΒ do well with our fluctuating cool spring temperatures.Β If you are interested in making these DIY Easter planters, here is how I assembled mine:
- I putΒ packing peanuts in the bottom thirdΒ of the planterΒ for the water to drain. Β Then filled it to the top with potting soil.
- I addedΒ 3-5 white birch branches (I think odd numbers always look best)Β that are different lengths. Β I got mine at Mulhalls but I know other placesΒ like Earl May would have them as well.
- I planted the pansies around the birch branches. Β I used 12 total for this one pot: 3 purple, 3 yellow, 3 orange, and 3 white pansies.
- I added in sprays of yellow forsynthia (Mulhalls has niceΒ quality ones for $3.99 each). I used 5 in this pot.
- Last, I added in my Easter decor stakes. The bunny bottom and easter egg are by The Round Top Collection and locally I know Borsheims and Von Maur carry that brand.
When Easter is over you can remove the Easter stakes and still have pretty spring planters. Β You can apply theΒ same stepsΒ for thisΒ Easter planterΒ below, too:
The twigs are called curly willow and they are actually alive and have to be watered along with the pansies. The Easter egg stake is also by The Round Top Collection.
