Can you believe it is May 1st already? Our son Harris turns one this month so I thought it would be a good time to share his nursery. When we first bought our house back in 2010 we removed the carpet in this room to find that the original wood floors were painted black underneath. We refinished the floors, removed the ceiling fan, added new trim and paint, but didn’t furnish this room until we created the nursery for our son Jack in 2013. We wanted to have one nursery that our family would use so we decided to get neutral furniture and switch out the decor for each of our kids. Unfortunately I don’t have blog-worthy pictures from Jack’s nursery, but it had light blue accents and baby animals in the picture frames above the crib. I pinned all of it to my nursery board on Pinterest if you are interested in looking at it. It was so pretty and I wish I had taken better pictures! Harris’ nursery has light blue and orange accents. We changed the bedding, wall decor, and other decor around the room to make it feel like a new space.

| Belle Upholstered Crib in Antique Grey Mist: RH Baby & Child | Lux Trellis Rug in Blue: Pottery Barn Kids, sold out but I love this one and this one | Marais Nightstand in Antique Grey Mist: RH Baby & Child | Glider and Ottoman: The Best Chair (NFM carried this brand at the time and it was very reasonable. I think Babies R Us carries it now) |
Father of the Bride I and II are a couple of my favorite movies and this room was inspired by this nursery in the second movie. Every time I see the nursery from Father of the Bride I still love it and think it is so timeless. I was also inspired by this nursery on RH Baby & Child’s website at the time and knew I wanted well made furniture that would last for all of our kids. Once I saw the Belle Upholstered Crib I had my heart set on it and it became the focal point of the room.

| Lamp: Voila | Orange Picture Frame: Bella Fiore |
There is a story behind this bunny lamp. In the early stages of my pregnancy with Jack I was shopping at a local decor store (Voila) and saw this lamp and noticed it was the last one left. I told my husband how cute it was and that after our first ultrasound I was planning to go get it for the nursery. After our appointment and ultrasound I went home and found the lamp sitting on the kitchen counter. My husband had gone to Voila and gotten it for me! I could not believe that he remembered me mentioning it, nor that he knew where Voila was located, ha! He is so sweet!
| Pillow: Pottery Barn Kids, sold out | Stroller Blanket: Pottery Barn Kids, sold out, similar here | Blanket Monogramming: Mine Custom Gifts & Embroidery |
| Hunter Douglas Blinds: Budget Blinds | Sheer Drapes : Pottery Barn | Allen + Roth Window Hardware: Lowes | Annie Sloan Chalk Paint: Keep the Piece |
I took the white wood curtain rods, finials, and rings to a local store in Omaha, Keep the Piece, and they used Annie Sloan chalk paint to replicate the same finish on the hardware as the crib. The owner, Diane, was extremely helpful and she did an amazing job. If you are considering chalk paint for any home project they have a huge selection!
We do have blinds on both of the windows but I wanted to let all the natural light in for the picture so they are rolled up and not visible.
| White Wicker Hamper: Amazon | Rocking Bear: Gift from Aunt Hidei, I think from Amazon |
| Marais Dresser in Antique Grey Mist: RH Baby & Child | Changing Pad and Blue Cover: RH Baby & Child | Harper Lion Mirror: Pottery Barn Kids, sold out | Ainsley Armoire: RH Baby & Child |
| Storage Cubes: Land of Nod | 4×6 and 5×7 Picture Frames: Bella Fiore |
This bookshelf is another special piece in the nursery and was built specifically for this corner. We had a local carpenter build it and my husband painted it himself. He did such a great job! Inspiration for this bookshelf came from this pinterest pin.

Do you know the exact model and color fabric you chose for the glider? Are you still happy with it?

MacieHi Macie! We have the Quinn model and ottoman and we still love it! It has held up to our 3 boys and we use it every day. I am not 100% sure on the exact fabric but I want to say it is the “sand” or “flax” option. It has a little texture to it so it doesn’t show spills etc. I hope that helps! Thanks so much for stopping by! xo, Kate
