Good morning! I am so excited to share our living room refresh with you. I have been wanting to update this space for awhile now. It needed it. And while there is still a lot on the list I would like to change, I wanted to be cost conscious and switched out just a few items. It really did make a huge difference (at least to me)! The furniture in this space is the first that my husband and I purchased together six years ago when we got married. While I love most of it, my style has definitely changed over those years and adding kids to the mix has made me realize what works and what doesn’t for our family. Everyone’s style changes over time so I think it is bound to happen no matter what!
Many of the pieces I still love, including our two arm chairs, buffet, and our rug. There are a couple pieces that aren’t kid friendly or suit my style anymore. For example, the sofa is so comfortable but the fabric is not very kid friendly. It will show a ring from a drop of water so we have had to get it cleaned many times. Also, the skirting on the bottom makes it a bit too formal for our family. The coffee table has been great for our boys to play on, but I would never do a glass top coffee table with kids again. We are constantly wiping it down because of the finger prints. Both pieces are beautiful but they just don’t fit our style now. All good things to learn from and know for the future!
For this refresh I made a few simple changes. I switched out our throw pillows, lamps, and added some summer decor, which you can read about in my summer home tour.
I have loved these Caitlin Wilson pillows for awhile now, so I decided to go for it. She is one of my favorite textile designers. Her rugs, pillows, wallpaper, and entire outdoor collection are amazing! I want it all!

Our boys like to play on the floor and sometimes even relax on the floor when they watch a show, so these large throw pillows on the fireplace work well for us.

I reused the lanterns from my Mother’s day tablescape. These are great lanterns because they are so multi-functional and have held up well! I like to use them inside for decor or outside on our patio. I don’t think I have ever shown the fireplace but it is original to the house. Can’t say I love how black it is in there but it is MUCH better than the outdated doors that were on it. 🙂
I have been searching for lumbar pillows for these two chairs and Mailoa from Jules and Tone was nice enough to create this size for me. In my summer home tour I showed you the blue motif pillows that I love from her shop. Those have moved to our bed, which worked out perfectly because our pillows needed a blue accent. These lumbar pillows fit these chairs perfectly and I love how they coordinated with the other pillows in the room so well!
