Selecting windows for your home is one of the most important decisions you will make when building or remodeling. Windows can define your home’s exterior and transform the interior spaces with natural light. From their architectural beauty to their impact on energy efficiency, windows are a big decision. When we researched what type of windows we wanted in our home Pella was our top choice for a number of reasons. Their high quality products, variety of options for all budgets, and long term customer service were most important to us in choosing windows and exterior doors for our home. Today I am going to share why we chose Pella windows for our home and why Pella windows are worth it.

Our Pella Windows and Doors: Lifestyle Series
Windows were a top priority for us when going through the building process. We knew we wanted to have several tall windows across the back of our home to let in as much natural light as possible. After visiting Pella’s showroom and reviewing all of their options and our budget, we selected windows from the Pella Lifestyle Series. We chose this series because of its reputation as a high performing energy efficient window, its beautiful casement profile details, and its value for our budget. Our windows are a combination of custom wood casement windows, both operational and fixed, with grilles between the glass for easy cleaning. We also have two exterior Pella doors: one to our back patio and a slider door walking out from our basement.
Double Hung vs. Casement Windows
Another decision you will make when purchasing windows is on the style: double hung or casement. This is a personal preference choice and there isn’t a right or wrong answer. For our home, casement windows gave us more flexibility with taller window sizes and I like that there isn’t a meeting bar obstructing any outdoor views. They open and close with a lever that folds away when not in use. Pella offers several different finishes for your lever and we selected white to blend in with the white trim around our windows. I find that casement windows are easy to clean on both the interior and exterior since they open 90 degrees.
Our Pella Windows: From Installation to Now
One thing I really love about Pella is their commitment to quality and customer service. Pella installs their own windows. They do not hire a sub-contractor to do the work. Also, if you have any issues with your windows, they send their own employees to service them.
When we were drawing up the plans for our home, we envisioned floor to ceiling windows and transoms in our living room that overlook our backyard. It was beyond exciting seeing our brand new Pella windows installed after framing.
When our windows were delivered, they came with a natural wood finish on the inside and white aluminum clad on the exterior. Pella’s exclusive EnduraGuard® wood protection provides protection against the effects of moisture, decay and stains from mold and mildew, which makes our windows incredibly durable.
On the back exterior of our home, a focal point is our dinette with floor to ceiling fixed windows and transoms surrounding our dining space.
We couldn’t be happier with our choice in Pella windows. They stand by their products and not only helped us achieve the look we were going for, but their high energy efficiency performance will help us save money for years to come.
